There is a holiday atmosphere in the studio today. But not because it’s an actual holiday today while we are filming, but rather it’s a holiday in our story line with Mike, 小明 and 兰兰. So yes, they made it home without mishap*1 from their day spent at 后海. And I assume 兰兰 wasn’t too late for her 钢琴课 piano lesson. So what holiday are they celebrating today? Today we continue our series on 后海, one of 北京’s most popular hangouts. Now last time we saw some of the sites along Lotus Lane, and in 后海’s many 胡同s. Today we are hitting the water. That’s right, 小明, 兰兰 and Mike have decided to go boating, which is actually common pastime*1 all over China where there’re public lakes. I can remember going boating as a kid in 南京 on 玄武 Lake. The paddle boats there resembled swans, was a lot of fun. Now, I’m sure boats have changed a lot since I was a kid. So, let’s check in with our fabulous trio and see just what they’re up to.

27 Houhai(Lotus Market) 后海(荷花市场)

Now last time I dare say we ended on a slightly lost note. Well we didn’t, but Mike, 小明 and 兰兰 certainly did. They were on their way to 后海 and discovered that they were walking in the complete wrong direction. 他们走反了.
By now though they should have been able to make their way there. So let’s check in with them and see if they really have arrived or not.

Shopping is still in our line up for today. And I have to say we’ll be seeing a lot of what we covered in our previous episode today, so it should be a good review.

最近は少し更新ペースを落として、書き取りのほうを進めています*1。現在episode 93まできました。あと少し。しかしあえて紙に手書きでやっているので、PCに打ち込むのが手間なのです。打ち込み自体は語学の勉強になりませんしね。
さて先日、1年以上前にすでに自分と同じことをやっている人を見つけました（episode 01だけですが）。VoiceTubeというサイトも初めて知りました。台湾発のサービスなのですね。文字と音声のタイミングはどうやって合わせているのですかねこれ。
そうだよな〜そりゃあhowじゃなくて好だよな〜。なぜ気づけなかったのか悔しくてなりません。

Now having completed our discussion of weather last time, today we’re going to be talking about something a little bit more dynamic. Well, I guess weather can be dynamic at times but shopping, especially shopping for clothes, now there’s something that people of all ages love to do wherever they might be. Now shopping for clothes in China can be a lot of fun, there is always plenty to buy and purchasing itself can be quite an adventure.
Now today 小明’s mom is taking Mike shopping. So, let’s check in with them and see what they are up to.
